The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have revealed they helped treat the families of key workers to a very special Christmas surprise last week.
The royal couple have narrated a new video all about the lovely initiative, which was shared on their social media accounts on Tuesday (15 December).
The video is entitled, ‘A Christmas Surprise for Key Workers from The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge’. Narrated in the style of a festive story for children, it begins with Prince William saying, “‘Twas two weeks before Christmas and all through the land, key workers kept working to help give us a hand”.

It begins with footage of key workers across the UK hard at work, including NHS staff, teachers and volunteers, helping to support the nation during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
It then cuts to footage of the special performance of the The National Lottery’s Pantoland, which was held last Friday (11 December) to thank key workers and their families for their amazing efforts. The Cambridges were, of course, in attendance as well, arriving with their three young children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

And, as the video goes on to reveal, something pretty magical was happening behind the scenes while the performance took place…
As the families of key workers arrived at the performance in London, a team of elves working on behalf of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Hamleys and The National Lottery asked the children what they’d like for Christmas.
Then, as they all sat down to enjoy the performance, the elves raced to nearby Hamleys toy shop to pick up the presents before presenting them to the lucky young recipients as they left the theatre.
As footage of the excitable children receiving their gifts from Father Christmas plays, the Duchess of Cambridge says: “With smiles on their faces and tears in their eyes, the children couldn’t believe they’d had such a surprise.”
The lovely video then ends with some poignant words from Prince William, who says: “The moral of the story, true now more than ever. Remarkable things happen when we all work together…”
It then ends with a title card saying, ‘With thanks to all our key workers’.
What a wonderful surprise project from the royal duo!
