Six Scots tragically die from virus as cases rise past 65k
A FURTHER six Scots have sadly died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours.
There have also been another 1,148 Covid-19 cases in the same time period, taking the pandemic total past 65,000.
The new cases account for seven per cent of the tests recorded over the last day.
Today’s figures, released by the Scottish Government, mean there have now been 65,061 positive tests during the course of the pandemic.
And a total of 2,849 Scots have tragically died from the virus.
There are currently 1,193 Scots in hospital battling the bug, up 44 from yesterday.
This includes 81 in intensive care, an increase of one overnight.
Sir Sean Connery’s widow Micheline pays tribute to ‘gorgeous’ star
SIR Sean Connery’s widow Micheline has paid tribute to her “gorgeous” late husband saying she watced him “slipped away without a fuss.”
The acting legend passed away at the age of 90, after suffering from dementia during his final months.
His wife Micheline, who was married to the James Bond actor for 45 years, told the Mail on Sunday: “It was no life for him.
“He was not able to express himself latterly. At least he died in his sleep and it was just so peaceful.
“I was with him all the time and he just slipped away. It was what he wanted.
“He had dementia and it took its toll on him. He got his final wish to slip away without any fuss.”
Swinney warns Scotland could follow England into full lockdown
JOHN Swinney today warned Scotland could be heading for lockdown measures like England’s – even though his government’s new “levels” regime has yet to kick in.
The Deputy First Minister said he “wasn’t surprised” the Prime Minister “felt the necessity” to bring in the curbs south of the border – with a near return to curbs seen in March – given “the severity of the situation in England”.
