The public will ‘see more of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2021′ and ‘in a way which is more in line with who they are’ than their working royal roles, sources have claimed.

The Duke, 36, and Duchess of Sussex, 39, are currently living in their $14 million mansion in California with their eighteen-month-old son Archie, having stepped back from royal duty in March.

Insiders have now revealed the couple are ‘optimistic and excited’ about 2021, after the Covid-19 crisis ‘meant they haven’t been able to be on the ground’ as they ‘planned to be’ during the start of their new life away from The Firm.

Sources told Vanity Fair’s Katie Nicholl: ‘We will see more of them and in a different way to how we saw them as working royals. It will be more in line with who they are and the way they want to operate from now on.’

Finding Freedom author Omid Scobie said the couple would show ‘the fruits of their labour’ next year, unveiling their new Archewell foundation and the products from their $150 million Netflix deal.

Insiders explained that while there are ‘certain things Prince Harry misses about England’, he feels no regrets about moving across the pond.

Meanwhile his relationship with Prince William, 38, is said to be ‘much better than it was’, with  the royal expert reporting the brothers are ‘in regular contact.’

And, as they prepare for their first Christmas in America, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have also ‘sent Christmas gifts to the Cambridge family’.

Insiders claimed the couple feel 'optimistic and excited' about next year after they were prevented from 'being on the ground as they had planned' because of the Covid-19 crisis

A source added: ‘I have no doubt they will be video calling each other over Christmas.’

The couple’s optimism for the new year come as they prepare for the end of a 12-month review of Harry and Meghan’s new working relationship with the royal family.

Since stepping back from royal duty in March, the couple have spoken on topics including Black Lives Matter and the US election.

The couple are currently midway through a 12-month probation period, at the end of which the Queen, 94, Prince Charles, 71, and Prince William will come together to review their relationship with the monarchy.

Royal sources claimed during the summer that Prince Harry was so keen on quitting the royal family that he initially refused the offer of the trial period.

The review was insisted upon by courtiers and other royals, with the Queen keen to let Harry know he could return to the fold if he changed his mind.

The Duke is thought to have been against the idea because it came from ‘the institution’ and he feared that a review would lessen the impact of their departure, allowing the media to write they could return.

The latest comments come as Meghan praised the ‘quiet heroes’ of the coronavirus pandemic who have supported communities in a clip recorded for CNN in what was her first public appearance since revealing she suffered a miscarriage.

The Duchess praised key workers and volunteers, while sitting on a bench apparently in the grounds of the £11million ($14million) California mansion she shares with Prince Harry, who was not involved in the video.

Meghan said last night: ‘We saw communities standing up and taking action. When kids’ lunch programs came to a halt, we saw our neighbours make sure that those children received the nutrition they need.’

She added that ‘we as a community showed up’ to deliver food needed by vulnerable people, adding that ‘we also saw the power of the human spirit’ and that ‘we have the power to remind someone else that there is hope’.
