PIERS Morgan has urged the public to listen to a top Scots Covid adviser as she insisted “the virus is killing the economy, not restrictions”.
The Good Morning Britain host shared a Channel 4 interview featuring Edinburgh University Professor Devi Sridhar – as she warned the UK could end up in constant lockdown cycles.

The virus expert said the country may have no choice but to go into a full shutdown if hospital cases and deaths continue to rise.
And she insisted that the prevalence of the deadly bug is damaging the economy – not government rules aimed at halting the spread.
Professor Sridhar said: “I think the problem is, if we keep being in this muddled state between trying to get the economy and going and trying to get public health protected, we’re going to be in recurring lockdown release cycles.

“Because as soon as hospitals start filling up, and ICU beds start filling up, there becomes no choice but to lock down to protect hospitals, otherwise no one can get the care that they need, as well as to protect schools.
“No place has been able to open schools for all ages and run it effectively and sustainably without actually suppressing the virus.
“I think we would have to wait and see for indications that case numbers are coming down, and this is why the testing and tracing system and surveillance is really important, to have line of sight of actually how many people have the virus.
“If you wait to rely on hospitalisations and on deaths, it’s too late, because deaths occur about five to six weeks after you start seeing the surge in infections and hospitalisations a few weeks later. They are lag indicators. We need lead indicators.”
