The Arkansas Department of Health reported one new COVID-19 case in Union County Monday, bringing the cumulative number of cases identified locally to 1,073. There were 976 confirmed cases in the county Monday, no change from Sunday, and 97 probable cases, up one from Sunday.
According to the United States Centers for Disease Control, the PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests that determine confirmed cases are more sensitive than the antigen tests that determine probable cases.
There were 994 Union County residents considered recovered from the virus Monday, up seven from Sunday. Active cases in the county dropped by six to reach 32 Monday, representing 3% of all the cases in the county. The active cases in Union County Monday included 18 confirmed cases and 14 probable cases.
