The Met Office has issued Surrey two weather warnings for ice as temperatures are expected to drop close to freezing this weekend.

The yellow warnings are in place from 9pm on Friday (December 4) through to 10am the next day.

Icy patches are expected to form overnight, so motorists are being made aware of the potentially hazardous driving conditions.

According to the Met Office, some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces are expected as the icy patches are likely to appear on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

A statement from the Met Office says: “Cloud is expected to clear this evening and overnight allowing temperatures to fall close to freezing which may lead to icy patches on untreated surfaces.

“A few showers are also expected across Kent and the far east of Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk which may lead to more widespread ice in these areas.”

Elsewhere in the south east region, there has been a yellow weather warning for snow in place, with some Kent towns close to the easternmost edge of Surrey seeing some flurries.
