In October 2018 police discovered the British man allegedly being kept in a decrepit green shed in Carlisle, Cumbria.

Two men have been charged with human trafficking offences after officers discovered a 58-year-old man allegedly being forced to live in a shed in Carlisle, in October 2018
Today two men, both named Peter Swailes, aged 80 and 55, appeared before Carlisle Magistrates’ Court.
Both men live in Carlisle, but at different addresses.
They have been charged with conspiracy to organise the travel of an individual with a view to exploiting them contrary to Section 2 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and Section 1 of the Criminal Law Act 1977.
The charges came following a three-year investigation by the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority, supported by Cumbria Police and the National Crime Agency.
GLAA officers carried out the raid in October 2018, and the 58-year-old was taken away by specialist trauma officers to be medically examined and assessed.
In 2019, senior investigating officer Martin Plimmer said: ‘Our priority since we made the initial arrest has been to ensure that the potential victim has been given all the necessary help and support. This was clearly the right thing to do
