Kate Middleton is one of the favourites among royal fans, but the Duchess of Cambridge may be in competition with another member of the Royal Family.
Princess Beatrice’s wedding photos were the most liked snaps on the official Royal Family Instagram account last year.
Fans liked the photo more than 1.1 million times, and 12,600 people commented on the picture.
The picture in question – Princess Beatrice with new husband Edoardo outside the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge in Windsor – was one of the most popular photos from the year.
Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip joined the happy newlyweds in the snap.
Captioning the post, the Royal Family Instagram account wrote: “The happy couple are pictured with Her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.
“Princess Beatrice wore a vintage dress by Norman Hartnell and the Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara, both belonging to Her Majesty The Queen.
“The tiara was worn by Her Majesty on her wedding day in 1947.”
The second most liked image was also Beatrice and Edoardo, but a close-up of the wedding – and it was liked more than 842,000 times.
Prince Philip’s birthday photos with the Queen were third and seventh most liked image, with 808,000 and 709,300 likes respectively.
And the fourth and eight spots were taken up by the monarch and her husband’s anniversary.
A portrait of Princess Charlotte was the fifth most liked, followed by a photo of the Queen and her heirs marking the new decade came in as sixth.
However, the most popular royal photo of the year was from Kensington Palace’s Instagram.
A heart-warming photo of Prince William with his three children, Prince George, Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte, saw more than 2.4 million likes.
The Duke is playing with his children on a swing ahead of William’s birthday.
The snap, taken by Kate Middleton, was uploaded in June last year.
Royal experts claim Princess Beatrice and Edoardo may have another wedding this year, as their nuptials were delayed and restricted by the coronavirus pnademic.
Meadhbh McGrath, co-host of the HeirHeads podcast, suggested the Princess could show off her original wedding dress for the second celebration.
She said: “We had heard that Beatrice and Edo would have a second ceremony where she could wear her original dress which she had planned for the wedding.
“I would really like to see the dress.”
