The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had just finished their three-day tour of Ireland, where they met local charities and embraced the local culture., but the couple managed to make it home without a hitch in time to put tuck their three young children in.

Kate and Prince William are known for their hands-on approach raising their family, as they always fight to maintain a work and home balance.

Their eldest children, George and Charlotte, are pupils only round the corner from the royal residence, at the exclusive Thomas’s Battersea in West London.

Only last week the nursery was closed due to a coronavirus scare after four students had been on a skiing trip to northern Italy.

A spokesperson for Thomas’s Battersea said: “Like all schools, we are taking the potential risks connected with the spread of Covid-19 very seriously and to this end are following government guidance to the letter around both prevention against infection and in dealing with cases where any staff or pupils are suspected of being exposed to the virus or who display any symptoms.”

“We currently have a very small number of pupils who have been tested and these individuals are currently, as per government advice, remaining at home pending the receipt of their test results.

“All parents have been informed and we have maintained regular communication with our school community to ensure that advice is shared and important information is circulated.

“We will, of course, preserve staff and pupil confidentiality and will not be commenting on specific cases.”

During this time of widespread panic, it is evident why the Cambridges want to remain close with their children and ensure they are safe.

The couple has often touched on the quality time they spend with their brood, just recently Prince William shared his family’s night time routine.

He revealed that he enjoys reading Julia Donaldson’s Room On The Broom to his little ones as they drift to sleep: “I read this to our children all the time,” he told a child, who was reading the book.”

The future King also joked with the author when she received her CBE that she has “saved bedtimes.”

“I said ‘do you realise how many parents you have saved at bedtime?'” he explained,

Before adding: “David Walliams also does good books for children – for a little bit older children I think. I’ve read one and it was really, really good.”

The Duchess in a recent podcast discussed the joys of motherhood, as she spoke candidly on Happy Mum Happy Baby.

Reflecting on what’s important when raising a child, the Duchess said: ”One [lesson] is quality of relationships. So those moments you spend with people that are around you,” Kate explains.

“I remember that from my own childhood. I had an amazing Granny who devoted a lot of time to us. Playing with us, doing arts and crafts, going into her greenhouse doing gardening stuff and cooking with us.

“I try to incorporate a lot of the experiences she gave us as at the time into the experiences that I give my children now.”

Kate revealed that she enjoyed spending time outside away from distraction.

The podcast was a big step for the royal, but it doesn’t necessarily mean Kate will be striding into the spotlight more often.

The reason she did the interview was to promote her early years under five study, which is intended to gather information and to spark a national conversation about early years experience that will help bring about positive, lasting change for generations to come.

The project, which is part of the Duchess’ Early Years initiative, is already the biggest survey of its kind in UK history according to Kensington Palace.
