Glasgow gangland figure stabbed to death near Silverburn
COPS were last night hunting a knife maniac after a gangland figure was stabbed to death in a horrific blade attack.
The victim, named locally as Omar Sadiq, was found in a pool of blood on a main road yesterday afternoon in Pollok, Glasgow – just yards from busy Silverburn Shopping Centre.
Sadiq, 32, was brutally attacked in Boydstone Road yesterday afternoon.
Cops stood guard next to a plush £25,000 Audi motor, which had been abandoned at the side of road, with its hazard lights still flashing.
It is thought he may have been in the car before stumbling into the road for help.
Greenock man dies after accidentally ‘setting himself on fire’
A MAN has died after accidentally ‘setting himself on fire’ outside a Greenock flat.
Distressing footage seen by The Scottish Sun shows the man, 46, walking outside a property on Union Street, Greenock before being engulfed in flames.
Emergency crews raced the area at around 10.30pm on Monday night but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the video clip the man is seen walking around outside the building before moving out of sight of CCTV cameras with what appears to be a petrol canister in his hand.
Within seconds a horrific blaze breaks out in the area next to the ground floor flat.
The grim footage, which we are not publishing, continues with the man engulfed in flames trying to move away from the building.
He then stops moving as flames continue to burn.
A Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service investigation is now being carried out following the incident.
