The Florida Department of Health confirmed 8,436 new cases of COVID-19 Saturday, as well as 93 more resident deaths.
The state is now up to 1,058,074 total cases of COVID-19 and 19,177 resident deaths, according to the department of health.
Florida has also reported that at least 246 non-resident deaths have occurred here, and there have been at least 56,457 hospitalizations attributed to the novel coronavirus since the start of the outbreak.
The statewide positivity rate from yesterday’s testing was 7.84%. The 14-day average positivity rate is 7.64% and the 7-day average is 8.16%.
Deaths confirmed in the past day include 17 in Miami-Dade County, seven in Broward County and one in Palm Beach County.
Led by Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, local leaders and medical experts are urging residents to do all they can to help stop the spread of the virus during this increasingly dangerous stretch of the pandemic.
