A CARLISLE pub has been blasted for ‘encouraging’ Scots punters to cross the border.
The Quarter Lounge in the English town took to social media yesterday to advertise some enticing deals on food and drink.

These included the ‘Sturgeon Fury’ cocktail – with the boozer joking that the First Minister had “p****d off” enough people by closing pubs and restaurants in the central belt of Scotland.
In all other areas, such as Dumfries and Galloway, where The Quarter Lounge rely heavily on for business, pubs and other hospitality venues are being made to close at 6pm every day until Sunday, October 25.
The English pub posted pictures of the tasty-looking burgers and boozy cocktails on their Facebook page – with the general message that they’re still open for their loyal customers in these nearby areas.
The post read: “Calling all you Scottish friends and customers! Carlisle is still open until 10pm 🕑
“So we have put a little special on for you. 6oz dry aged burger with haggis, crispy onions, beef mayo and melted cheese, along with our new cocktail
“Sturgeon fury”. 😂😂 IRN-BRU, Cointreau, Drambuie, vanilla and orange…
“She’s p***ed you off enough by shutting your pubs and restaurants at 6pm so why not knock back a few in Carlisle.
“Covid safe measures in place. Hospitality TRADE is trying to do everything it can to stay safe…… so stop blaming us!”
They later announced another new cocktail to their specials menu, called the SMP – the ‘Scottish Mojito Party’.
However, some social media users were unhappy with the venue’s position on the matter.
Some even blasted the pub as ‘irresponsible’ for trying to encourage people to cross the border between Scotland and England.
