Peterborough is to get some respite from wintry conditions this week, with temperatures set to rocket to 15C at the weekend.
The city, like much of the nation, has battled freezing temperatures and frosty conditions in recent weeks.
Multiple MetOffice warnings for snow and ice have been in place for the East of England and Peterborough has faced minus temperatures, which have felt like -11C at times.
The extreme February weather saw the UK record its coldest temperature for 65 years at Braemar in Aberdeenshire on Wednesday night (February 10) when the mercury dropped down to minus 23C.
Chris Fawkes from BBC Weather said: “We’re starting to draw up more of a southerly flow of wind and that will start to drag up some of the warmer air from North Africa and Spain which will push across westerly Europe and in across parts of the United Kingdom.”
