An autistic mental health campaigner has called for a youth mental health strategy to be formed in order to provide support when the pandemic comes to an end.
Ethan Redmond, 20, says that the Covid-19 pandemic has added further pressures on young people across Northern Ireland as they struggle with isolation on top of their education and transitions in life.
Speaking to Belfast Live, the mental health campaigner said he has noticed the impact that mental health has had on the people around him during the pandemic, with many friends and family knowing someone who has been impacted by suicide over the past year.
Because of this he has tried to educate himself about mental health support and how you can spot the signs of someone struggling, so he would be able to offer his support to someone if they are in need.
He has also been hosting live-streams on Tik-Tok where he offers advice and tries to help signpost people in the right direction for further help.
