GYM fanatics will need to put down their weights and hop off the treadmills next week as gyms across the UK will close in a bid to curb a second wave of the virus.
The closures are part of a raft of new lockdown measures revealed in a live TV address this evening.
Are gyms closing again in the UK?
Gyms were among the last businesses to reopen after the first lockdown, and were only given the green light to do so from July 25.
But now they are set to close again, just three months after allowing gym-goers back in.
Leisure centres, such as bowling alleys and soft play centres, are also set to close.
Boris Johnson said the new measures will begin Thursday November 5 and last until December 2.
So this means gyms will be out of action for at least four weeks.
For those still wanting to work out, exercise and recreation will be permitted if it is outdoors, either on your own or with one person from another household or bubble.
So long as these rules are followed, people will be allowed to exercise as much as they like.
Will I be able to renew my gym membership if I cancelled?
All gyms are likely to be glad of the business when they eventually reopen.
However, there could be a cap on new members joining due to social distancing.
Many gym companies froze all membership payments for the duration of the first lockdown, including The Gym Group, Pure Gym, DW Fitness First, Virgin Active, Nuffield Health and David Lloyd.
Gym fees already paid were refunded by most gyms or added to accounts as a credit.
Why are they closing?
The closures are part of a raft of drastic new measures in a fresh lockdown to “protect the NHS and save lives”.
Nearly all businesses, shops, and recreational centres in the UK will shut again as Brits will only be able to leave home for school, work, medical reasons, exercise, shopping or providing care to the vulnerable.
